Badges & Awards
The SpiralScout experience is about so much more than earning badges and awards. However, these badges and awards are symbols of the hard work put in by scouts to achieve goals through growing their knowledge and skills in a variety of areas. As such, scouts are proud to collect their badges and awards, displaying them on their sashes, vests and capuches.

Awards can be earned at any time during the scout's career. Awards have the same requirements for RainDrops, FireFlies, SpiralScouts and PathFinders. Many awards are intended to be shorter projects, potentially possible to complete in one meeting, but some awards will be major projects.
Badges are different for each level, and build upon the skills learned in earlier levels. If a scout did not complete the badge at a younger level, there will be prerequisites to check to make sure the assumed knowledge and skill is present, which may require some work to get up to speed. Requirements are more complex at the older levels, and require finished projects, so depending on the badge topic, these badges will probably take more time to complete than the badges at the youngest levels.
